Accessibility Statement for Scottish Water

This accessibility statement is relevant to our primary website, www.scottishwater.co.uk.

We want everyone who visits the Scottish Water website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding.

What are we doing?

To help us ensure that everyone who visits the Scottish Water website has a positive user experience, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone. The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the Scottish Water website.

We are committed to making our website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

How are we doing?

We're working hard to achieve our goal of Level AA accessibility for all our website content. Our website is currently partially compliant with this standard. We will continue to make improvements to our website to make it easier for all our customers to use. Our next areas of focus are listed below.

Non-compliances

  • Captions (Live)
Long term possibly training staff to include captions in all videos
  • Audio Description (Prerecorded)
Long term possibly addressing this through technology that is automated.
  • Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded)

  • PDFs
    See below for further information

How do I view a PDF document?

Many of our leaflets and documents are available on the site for downloading. Most of these documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF) which can be viewed using Adobe Reader. This software is available free of charge from the Adobe website.

Newer versions of Adobe Reader contain tools specifically designed to make it easier for people with disabilities to read PDF files. An Accessible Reader download and further information on accessing PDFs with Assistive Technology is available from the Adobe Reader Accessibility Site.

Disproportionate burden

Some current PDFS on our site are not screen reader friendly. We consider changing these would carry an excessive burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.

For future publication of PDFs we will try our best to ensure that these are as accessible as possible and compatible with screen readers.
