Wick Water Main Upgrade
Project Overview
Scottish Water is investing £4 million in Wick to ensure we can continue to supply customers with clear, fresh drinking water into the future.The project is being delivered by Scottish Water’s alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) and started in September 2021.
It is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete the improvement work.

Investing in Wick
Scottish Water is investing £4m in Wick to upgrade the water main network
What We are Doing
The work will involve replacing approximately 15km of water main throughout Wick and flushing almost 25km of water mains.The mains replacement works will be a combination of open cut replacement and slip lining techniques.
The work will be carried out on a rolling basis over the course of the programme and traffic management and road closures will be in place to allow it to be completed safely. Advanced warning signs will be put out a minimum of seven days prior to any road or lane closure taking place.
When we are working in specific streets there may be some access and parking restrictions. Our onsite team will speak to anyone impacted by any restrictions to access. Please take care and follow any signs put in place.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and pedestrian access will not be affected.
During the work we may need to turn off your water supply. If we do, we will send you further information at least 48 hours in advance, detailing the dates and times that your supply will be affected and what to do.
You may experience a change in water pressure and/or discoloured water. If this happens, turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen and let the water flow slowly until it runs clear.
