Shetland Water Network Improvements
Scottish Water alongside our alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) are carrying out a programme of works on the water network which serves communities in the North mainland.
Planned Works:
This £7 million investment involves carrying out work to two section of the water network.
One section is to construct approximately 1.9km of new water main at various locations along the A970 from Eela Water Treatment Works to Mavis Grind.
The Second section is to construct approximately 7.2km of new water main along the B9076 between Voxter Voe and Sullom Voe Oil Terminal.
This work will improve the resilience and reliability of the water supply so you continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water in to the future.

During these essential works:
- There will be road works and traffic management during our works. This will be agreed in full conjunction with Shetland Islands Council. Please follow all signs put in place.
- There may be several planned interruptions to the water supply. Should you be affected by any of these we will send you further information at least 48hrs in advance, detailing the dates and times that your supply will be affected and what to do. We will try to minimise disruption from these by using back feeds and doing work at night where possible.
- You may notice some noise from construction equipment however we will try to keep any disruption to a minimum where possible.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we carry out this essential work.
