These pictures represent the average water resource availability within Scotland. We can abstract from 426 individual water resources (236 reservoirs and lochs, xx groundwater supplies and xx river supplies).
Given the nature of the weather we could experience rainfall events in different parts of the country at different times so the area pictures provide a more local position to where you live. That said individual sources across Scotland may be high or low for many different reasons.
The red, amber and green temperature gauge provides an understanding of the level reported against a seasonal average figure. Green is a value above average, yellow is a value <20% below average, amber is a level >20% below average and red is a level >50% below average. This scale should not be confused with our drought management curves.
